A note re: appointment availability...

If you don’t see availability for the vaccine and dates/times you’re interested in, this is intentional.

Due to regular fluctuations in our vaccine stock and availability of personnel to assist with vaccination, we are currently releasing appointments as we are able. Any verbiage referring to appointments not being available for many months can be disregarded.

Want to be notified when more appointments for high-demand vaccines are released? Subscribe to our news bulletin, the DOSE. If you’re unable to subscribe, you’ll need to revisit our booking page frequently to see when additional appointments are added.

Please refrain from calling or emailing us to ask about availability unless you need assistance with booking an appointment.

As of March 1st, 2024, adults 65+ years old are now recommended by the CDC to receive a second dose of the 2023-2024 formulation of whichever COVID vaccine they prefer, but must be at least 4 months from their last dose.

Moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals continue to be eligible to receive additional COVID doses according to CDC guidelines, but must be at least 2 months from their last dose.

FAQs

  • Subscribing to our occasional news bulletin, the DOSE, is the best way to receive important announcements from us, including about our vaccination services. We’ll never use this news bulletin for marketing purposes and you can unsubscribe at any time.

  • We recommend checking out our Vaccination page first, then sending us a message here if you have any additional questions. This page has detailed information about the vaccines we offer, age requirements (they do differ from vaccine to vaccine!), pricing, travel, and how to access your Minnesota state vaccination record using the Docket app.

  • Visit our Vaccination page to read more information about the vaccines we offer, pricing, and how to prepare for your appointment. We recommend checking this page out BEFORE booking your appointment, since the page includes important information about vaccines that cannot be administered with others, age requirements, etc.

  • Click on the green “Change/Cancel Appointment” button toward the bottom of the confirmation or reminder emails you receive upon booking/shortly before your scheduled appointment.

If you no longer have access to these emails and need assistance with rescheduling or canceling, message us here.

  • Nope! You caught us—we do set appointments in our scheduling system to be 5 minutes long by default so that it will allow us to schedule more appointments per day. Despite this, most vaccination appointments are actually 15 - 20 minutes long so that we have enough time to bill your vaccination to insurance, answer any questions you may have, prepare and administer the vaccine, and provide any necessary patient education. Shingles vaccination appointments (or any appointment in which you are receiving multiple vaccines or a vaccination for the first time) are 30 minutes long.

Read me prior to booking, please!

Select your appointment type carefully and book using the details of the person(s) receiving the vaccination (i.e., if you're booking for someone else, don't use your name, birthday, etc.).

Use your full legal name and date of birth so that we may attempt to bill your vaccine in preparation for appointment. If you'd like us to call you something different than your legal name, include it in parentheses after your legal first name (e.g., Rosamund (Rosie) Smith).

It's also best to use a cell phone number if you have one, since our system is able to send booking reminders via text. However, if you don't have a cell phone, please still include the best home or work phone to reach you at.

If booking one of the vaccines mentioned below, click on the + to read more detailed information about that vaccine before proceeding with your booking.

Thank you kindly for your cooperation and heeding our instructions—we know it's a lot, but it helps us immensely. The less time we spend addressing emails about questions already answered here and rescheduling mis-booked appointments, the more time we can spend vaccinating you and your loved ones!

  • As of March 1st, 2024, adults 65+ years old are now recommended by the CDC to receive a second dose of the 2023 formulation of whichever COVID vaccine they prefer, but must be at least 4 months from their last dose. Moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals continue to be welcome to receive additional COVID doses according to CDC guidelines, but must be at least 2 months from their last dose.

We are currently offering the 2023 Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines and are administering to patients 3 - 11 years old (Moderna ONLY) and 12+ years old.

We are also offering the 2023 Novavax COVID vaccine (12+ years old ONLY). Now that there is sufficient demand from patients for this vaccine, we are releasing 5 appointments daily, which you can now book independently without having to complete our Novavax Interest Form. This vaccine comes in 5-dose vials; in order to prevent wasted vaccine doses, we will be watching our calendar closely to ensure that enough individuals have signed up each day. If a day comes where less than 5 individuals have booked an appointment, we may need to reschedule those appointments to prevent wasting doses. Though the manufacturer has reported they’ll “accept all unused doses of this vaccine,” please be aware that this is in reality a costly and inefficient process for us that we do not plan on taking advantage of. Therefore, wasted doses = wasted money for us that we can’t afford to lose.

You are no longer required to bring and update your CDC Vaccination Record Card when receiving a COVID shot; instead, we’ll confirm the dates of your previous doses (if any) via your Docket smartphone app or MIIC (Minnesota Immunization Information Connection, Minnesota's state vaccination record system).

If you want to learn more about the difference between these COVID vaccines, we recommend checking out this article.

  • We are currently administering both the regular (3+ years old; Flucelvax and Afluria) and high dose (65+ years old; Fluad) versions.

Of note, some articles recently released by major news outlets have discussed a connection between stroke and the flu and COVID vaccines, most especially in those who are 85+ years old and receive the high dose flu and COVID shots together. It’s important to keep in mind that the data cited in these articles is based on observational studies that cannot determine cause and effect between receiving these vaccines and the incidence of stroke, and so requires much further investigation before determining that vaccination recommendations need to be changed. Additionally, the association cited happened in a very small number of cases overall, and must be considered alongside the risk of stroke (and other complications) from the illnesses that these vaccines protect against. For these reasons, at this time, the CDC and ACIP are NOT recommending that individuals over 65 years old avoid receiving the high dose flu vaccine, which is shown to be significantly more effective at protecting older patients against flu regardless of their health status. However, we are more than happy to separate your COVID and flu vaccination appointments, or give you the regular dose flu shot, if you prefer; if so, just let us know!

  • This vaccine is available to all individuals 60+ years old (Abrysvo or Arexvy) and pregnant individuals at 32 through 36 weeks gestation (Abrysvo ONLY) for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) and severe LRTD caused by RSV.

Please note that this vaccine is adjuvanted (designed to elicit a stronger immune response), so we DO NOT recommend receiving it alongside other vaccines on the same day. It’s also good to book your appointment on a day when you know that you don’t have anything important (e.g., a special event or flight) going on the next day.

Pregnant people should call (651) 698-8859 directly to book an RSV appointment if they cannot find any open appointment times online, as we have greater availability of this vaccine than our booking system settings allow and want to make sure you receive it within the limited 32 - 36 week window.

note: As of 12/27/23, we’ve been informed of a bug with our website host that is causing issues with scheduling tools like the one we use below not auto-scrolling back up the page partway through the booking process. Their engineering teams are actively prioritizing a fix for this.

If you’re booking an appointment and find yourself on a blank screen, try scrolling back up to the top of the page. If you’re still unable to book an appointment on your own, give us a call at (651) 698-8859 or send us a message here and we’d be more than happy to help you! We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.
