2027 Medicare plan list now available!

Medicare enrollees and all soon-to-be! Our annual spreadsheet detailing which Medicare plans we’ll be in-network for next year is now available on our Medicare page (listed several places throughout the page).

As expected, patients’ choices are even more limited next year compared to this year as plans become increasingly unaffordable for us to accept. As a reminder, our Cost Plus self-pay program is available to ALL patients, regardless of whether your insurance plan is accepted at SPCD. If you take inexpensive, generic medications, this is probably a great option for you for several reasons, and it helps financially support our business because it ensures we’re being compensated fairly. If you are not familiar with this option, we would be happy to discuss it with you during your next visit to the pharmacy!

It’s that time of year…

The respiratory illness season is in full-swing, so we wanted to send a few reminders about taking care of yourself and others during this time of year:

• While we don’t require masking within our space, we kindly ask that you consider wearing a mask if you’re feeling unwell or have been exposed to a sick person. You can also take advantage of our curbside pickup option, if you’d prefer to avoid coming into the store altogether. Just call us when you arrive and we’ll get you taken care of!

• If you haven’t already, make sure to resume your daily vitamin D regimen through the end of spring, if not all year round. If you’re not sure how much you should be taking, ask to speak with one of our pharmacists!

• This is also a great time to start a daily regimen of an immune boosting supplement like Ortho Molecular’s Viracid, especially if you work in high-risk environments (e.g., schools, healthcare spaces) or are immunosuppressed.

• Soon it will be time to start your humidifier! In extremely dry environments like the Minnesota winter, running a humidifier (or several) in your home can help relieve dry, cracked skin and also improves respiratory health by keeping our mucous membranes moist and poised to protect us from pathogens.

Make a plan to VOTE

Absentee voting for the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 3 is already underway, and early voting (where your ballot is put directly into a ballot counter) will be starting in a few weeks on October 16! It’s never too early to begin researching the candidates and making a plan for how you’re going to cast your vote. Regardless of what party you choose to support, we want to make sure that all eligible SPCD patients are participating in this CRUCIAL democratic process!

This week we’ll be adding voter registration applications, absentee ballot applications, and other voting-related materials to our advocacy area at the front of our store––please take whatever is helpful to you!
