A note from the Hoeschen family re: recent ICE events

To our beloved community,

At SPCD, we believe in the sanctity of ALL human lives—regardless of legal status—and are horrified by the recent actions of federal ICE agents, most especially the fatal shooting of 37-year-old U.S. citizen and mother, Renee Nicole Good, this week in Minneapolis. Our hearts are hurting for our community for what feels like the umpteenth time in recent years as our state and Twin Cities have experienced unprecedented civil unrest and violence. In our hearts and minds, this is not a political or partisan issue, but one of basic human rights.

There have now been several verified sightings of ICE patronizing local businesses in the Highland and Mac-Groveland areas. We want you to know that we stand by the sign now hanging on our front door: ICE will not be welcome in our store, and certainly not in our business’ private spaces. St. Paul Corner Drug’s intention will always be to remain a safe space for all humans.

Stay safe. Be brave. Hug your loved ones. Protect your neighbors. We’ve survived hard times before and will again, but only by sticking together and spreading love instead of hate.

No new patients, again :(

In order to maintain a safe and efficient workflow for our patients and work environment for our staff amidst the hullabaloo of the new year, we’ve decided to once again temporarily pause the addition of new patients. If you know someone who would like to begin filling prescriptions at our pharmacy, please direct them to our New Patients page, which has been updated accordingly and includes a link to our New Patient Waitlist.

As before, the exception to this rule will be for those who are immediate family/household members of an existing prescription patient (e.g., children of a parent already filling their prescriptions at SPCD). Patients who haven’t filled prescriptions at our pharmacy within the last 2 years will be considered new patients and required o add their name to the waitlist.

New year, new insurance

A reminder that with a new year often comes new or updated insurance coverage! If your plan has changed OR you have the same plan, but the numbers on your insurance card have changed, please share your updated coverage information with our team in person or via phone/email. The following are the pieces of information we’ll need from your new card:

RxPCN (if present)
RxGRP (if present; different from medical GRP number)

The food drive continues!

We’re so thrilled to report that we’ve continued to receive a steady stream of shelf-stable food and supplies donations, and have decided to keep our food drive servicing local little free pantries and the Keystone Community Food Center going for the time being. Information about helpful items can be found on and around our donation box at the front of our store. The Keystone employees recognized Hildie when she arrived for another dropoff this week and gave her a huge thumbs up, which she shares with all of you!

THANK YOU so much for your generosity, which has resulted in approximately 645 lbs of donations from the SPCD community so far. Let’s keep it going!

Storm Drain Naming Contest

Submissions for our Storm Drain Naming Contest have now come to a close. We will deliberate amongst our team and announce the 4 winners of a $25 SPCD gift card (and feature on our social media, if you life) by the end of January!
